LYONS TWP REG. MEETING
SEPTEMBER 3, 2024 The meeting was called to order with the Pledge to the Flag. There were 8 citizens, and 5 board members present. Minutes to the meeting were presented for review. A motion to accept the minutes was made by R Scheurer and supported by J Thelen. Motion carried. Correspondence: There was no correspondence. Cemetery: The road has been completed in the cemetery, but it was done incorrect. They paved by the flagpole but not the approach. They were supposed to do the approach and not by the flagpole. R Scheurer will contact them to see what they will do about it. There is a wall that needs fixing. Public comment: There was no public comment. Treasurer’s report: A motion to accept the treasurer’s report as presented was made by A Hengesbach and supported by R Scheurer. Motion carried. Bills in the amount of $31,996.53 to the general fund were presented for payment. A motion to pay the bills was made by R Scheurer and supported by A Hengesbach. Motion carried. TWP Business: Pewamo firefighters were here to discuss the ambulance contract we signed with Life Ambulance. Thomas Miller was the main spokesperson for them. They are concerned that Life will not get to the scene in good time. They feel they do not work well together. They have asked the board to check facts for both Life Ambulance and Portland Ambulance. The board reminded the firefighters that Portland Ambulance contract skyrocketed. That is why the board felt we had to give Life a chance. It is on a trial basis. C Babcock announced there is a Webber Dam meeting on September 10, 2024. J Heckman read the bid from Sid’s Floral for Christmas decorations. The board decided to discontinue decorations from Sid’s Floral. A motion to adjourn the meeting at 7:07pm was made by J Thelen and supported by R Scheurer. Motion carried.
