LYONS TWP REG. MEETING
FEB 1, 2021 The meeting was called to order with the Pledge to the Flag. There were 2 citizens and 5 board members present. Minutes to the meeting were presented for review. A motion to accept the minutes was made by R. Scheurer and supported by A. Hengesbach. Motion carried. Correspondence: There was no correspondence. Cemetery: Someone was stuck in the cemetery but was able to get pulled out. Josh will get us a bid on the 2 stones that still need fixing. Public comment: There was no public comment. Treasurer’s report: A motion to accept the treasurer’s report as presented was made by R. Scheurer and supported by A. Hengesbach. Motion carried. Bills in the amount of $40,304.17 to the general fund and $2,060.66 to the building fund were presented for payment. A motion to pay the bills was made by R. Scheurer and supported by A. Hengesbach. Motion carried. TWP Business: C. Babcock has talked to our lawyer M. Zimmerman about writing up a basic ordinance for wind turbines. M. Zimmerman said it would cost around $1500.00. A. Hengesbach made a motion and R. Scheurer supported to have a basic ordinance for Wind turbines written up. A roll call vote was taken: A. Hengesbach yes, R. Scheurer yes, J. Thelen yes, C. Babcock yes, and J. Heckman yes. Motion carried. C. Babcock will also look into having a solar ordinance written up also. C. Babcock brought asking for a stand by fee from Ionia TWP. for the places in Lyons village that are in Ionia TWP. This request is to be tabled. Sparrow has countered our offer of $55,000 for the old Dr. Office at 505 E. Bridge St. with an offer of $65,000. A. Hengesbach made a motion and R. Scheurer supported accepting the Sparrow offer of $65,000 with a good inspection. A roll call vote was taken: A. Hengesbach yes, R. Scheurer yes, J. Thelen yes, C. Babcock yes, and J. Heckman yes. Motion carried. Chief Randall and Chief Yerge wanted to bring to the board that the Hubbardston Fire Department is having trouble with not having personnel to cover medical runs. Lyons/Muir, Pewamo, and Ronald Twp. fire departments are being asked to help cover Hubbardston’s runs. Our chiefs will keep us up to date on what’s happening with Hubbardston. The board may have to look into charging North Plains with a fee. Chief Randall announced that Max Darling has 50 years of service, Bernie Russell has 40 years of service, and he (Chief Randall) also has 40 years of service on the Lyons/Muir Fire Department. The Board Thanks you for you years of service. Building: The Post Office still has not paid for their portion of last year’s (2020) trash bill which is $350.00. Now they owe for this year (2021) also. J. Heckman sent an email with both year’s bills to Logan at Ionia post office per his request on February 1, 2021. They now owe $700.00.
