LYONS TOWNSHIP REGULAR MEETING
FEBRUARY 3, 2020 The meeting was called to order at 7:00 pm by Clerk J. Heckman with the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. Board members present were: J. Heckman, R. Scheurer, J. Thelen and T. Thelen. Absent: Supervisor Charles Babcock. Also present: Pewamo Fire Chief, Michael Yerge, and two citizens. Minutes of the meeting of January 6, 2020 were presented for review. It was moved by Trustee Scheurer, supported by Trustee T. Thelen to approve the minutes as presented. Motion carried. CORRESPONDENCE: None PUBLIC COMMENT: None CEMETERY: Treasurer J. Thelen reported that she is scanning the cemetery records onto an automated system to provide a back up to the paper documents. Some records are very fragile and may require other means to scan and preserve information. TREASURER’S REPORT: It was moved by T. Thelen, supported by Scheurer, to approve the Treasurer’s report as presented. Motion carried. Bills in the amount of $14,455.53 from the General Fund and $855.95 from the Building Fund were presented for payment. A motion to pay the bills was made by Scheurer, supported by T. Thelen. Motion carried. TOWNSHIP BUSINESS: Clerk Heckman reported Phil Gensterblum of Portland Ambulance has informed the Township there will be an increase in the forthcoming contract for 2020. Amount of increase was not provided at this time. Ted Droste, Lyons Township Assessor provided the Township Board with the Resolution for Board of Review meeting dates. It was moved by Trustee T. Thelen, supported by Trustee Scheurer to approve the Resolution as presented. Roll call vote: Tony Thelen: Yes; Jill Thelen: Yes; Scheurer: Yes; Heckman: Yes. Motion carried. Resolution is included as adopted and become part of meeting minutes. Authorization was given by the Board to transfer the checking and savings accounts now on deposit at Union Bank to Independent Bank. The transfer will be completed upon the naming of Independent Bank as a depository of the Township at the annual meeting on March 30, 2020. OTHER TOWNSHIP BUSINESS: Jeff Dygert of Pewamo Fire Dept. reported the ambulance donated to the Township by EMS must have all decals removed. Motion was made by T. Thelen, supported by R. Scheurer to approve the bid of $6500.00 provided by Edge Wraps to remove rust and wrap the ambulance. Two other bids were received but did not include rust removal as part of the bid. Motion carried. BUILDING FUND: It was noted that many bricks on the east side of the Township building are disintegrating. A bid has been received by TL Masonry to replace up to 100 bricks for $4200.00. Board will review other alternatives. No action taken at this time. ADJOURNMENT: There being no further business, it was moved by R. Scheurer, supported by T. Thelen to adjourn at 7:45 pm.
