LYONS TWP REG. MEETING
July 5, 2021 The meeting was called to order with the Pledge to the Flag. There were 11 citizens and 5 board members present. Minutes to the meeting were presented for review. A motion to accept the minutes was made by R Scheurer and supported by J Thelen. Motion carried. Correspondence: There was no Correspondence. Cemetery: There was no cemetery comment. Public comment: Doug Hyland and Ron Vanderwerf were here from the Village of Muir to ask what our Covid money was going towards. If we have unused money, they were wondering if we would split it between the villages for their project needs. The board agreed to discuss this when we get the money and the rules on how to spend it. They also wanted to discuss having a fireman come to a meeting at least once a quarter to let them know what is going on with the fire department and what their needs are. The board said we would try and make that happen. Treasurer’s report: A motion to accept the treasurer’s report as presented was made by R Scheurer and supported by A Hengesbach. Motion carried. Bills in the amount of $23,545.49 to the general fund and $32,457.75 to the building fund were presented for payment. A motion to pay the bills was made by R Scheurer and supported by A Hengesbach. Motion carried. TWP Business: Star Hobart, Brad Burns from Village of Hubbardston, Bill Kruger, Bob Fahey from North Plains TWP., and Stephanie Lewis Fire Chief from Hubbardston was here to discuss the extra help needed from our Fire Departments and how we can get some compensation for it. Star and Stephanie said they would not need the help from our departments starting in August. The board was under the impression they would need help until around February, so the board wanted to write up a contract to be compensated for the assistance we were giving. After our discussion there was no need to write up a contract. There was a motion to accept the Hart election equipment maintenance renewal by J Thelen and supported by R Scheurer. Motion carried. C Babcock informed the board that the roadside mowing’s for the gravel roads were complete. J Heckman asked the board if she made purchases for the new building if she could get reimbursed for said purchases at the time of purchasing since the township does not have a credit card. A motion to reimburse J Heckman for purchases when they are purchased was made by R Scheurer and Supported by A Hengesbach. Motion carried. Building Fund: The board has not heard anything from Cathy Hoppough about the offer on the table for the building. The new building remodel is going well. Tom Bennett brought in a bid for:
