​                                                     LYONS TWP REG. MEETING
MAY 6, 2024
The meeting was called to order with the Pledge to the Flag.  There were  citizens 2, and 4 board members present. J Thelen was absent.
Minutes to the meeting were presented for review.  A motion to accept the minutes with corrections made to the Cemetery and change the word conservatories to depositories under treasurer report was made by R Scheurer and supported by A Hengesbach.  Motion carried.
Correspondence: There was no correspondence.
Cemetery:  A motion was made to have Wickham’s repair the last 8-9 foundations in the Spaulding cemetery this year was made by R Scheurer and supported by A Hengesbach.
All the limbs and logs have been cleaned up in the cemetery. All looks good.
There is a stone tipped over in the old part we will ask Wickham’s to fix it.
Public comment: There was no public comment.
Treasurer’s report:  A motion to accept the treasurer’s report as presented was made by R Scheurer and supported by A Hengesbach. Motion carried.
Bills in the amount of $20,240.49 to the general fund were presented for payment.  A motion to pay the bills was made by R Scheurer and supported by A Hengesbach.  Motion carried.
TWP Business: Lawn mowing bids for the Township Hall were read: JBM Lawncare LLC approximately $1525.00 ($100 spring, $225 fall, $50 per mowing), Blair Rowland approximately $800 ($8o spring, $120 fall, $25 each mowing), Bernie Russell $1200.00 for spring, fall clean up and all mowing, Peter Grobbel $2100 spring and fall clean up and all mowings. A motion to accept the bid from Bernie Russell was made by R Scheurer and supported by A Hengesbach. A roll call vote was taken; R Scheurer yes, A Hengesbach yes, C Babcock yes, J Heckman yes and J Thelen messaged her vote as yes.  Motion carried.
Asphalt bids for the Lyons Twp Cemetery roads were road:  American Asphalt 7035 sqft. $22,500, Grand Ledge Paving LLC 7470 sqft. $20,428.01 and Snyder Asphalt Inc. 5976 sqft. $17,500. A motion to accept the bid from American Asphalt was made by R Scheurer and supported by A Hengesbach. A roll call vote was taken; R Scheurer yes, A Hengesbach yes, C Babcock yes, J Heckman yes and J Thelen messaged her vote as yes.  Motion carried.
Julie Bennett has been our cleaning lady since we moved to our new building and has never asked for a raise, and she only gets $90 a month and goes above and beyond what needs to be done without saying anything or being asked to do so. A motion was made by J Heckman and supported by R Scheurer to give J Bennett our cleaning lady a raise to $125.00 a month. Motion carried.
L Randall sent a message in to say the Chrouch’s bill for the 3 sirens will be around $7500 to be split 4 ways between the 4 entities. J Heckman will check with Crouch’s to see if they will split the invoice 4 ways.
 
A motion to adjourn the meeting at 6:20 was made by R Scheurer and supported by A Hengesbach.  Motion carried.
