LYONS TWP REG. MEETING
May 3, 2021 The meeting was called to order with the Pledge to the Flag. There were 4 citizens and 5 board members present. At the beginning of the meeting, we had 5 Firemen being Honored for their years of service with plaques. Max Darling with 50 years of service Bernie Russell with 40 years of service Lyndon Randall with 40 years of service Mike Klein with 36 years of service and Roger Davarn with 44 years of service (not present) The Township would like to thank all of you for your dedication in serving our communities. Minutes to the meeting were presented for review. A motion to accept the minutes was made by R. Scheurer and supported A Hengesbach by. Motion carried. Correspondence: There was no correspondence. Cemetery: Josh was here with some comments on the cemetery. He said the total to do all 12 foundations (some have been completed) would be $3895.00. He also said they have cleaned up the back part of the cemetery. There was a motion made by R Scheurer and supported by A Hengesbach to renew Wickham Cemetery Care’s contract for 3 years for $23,484 per year. Motion carried. R Scheurer made a motion to have Wickham’s do the rest of the foundations that need to be done supported by A Hengesbach. Motion carried. There is going to be a Port-a-potty put up in the cemetery for Memorial Day and into the summer. Wickham’s is going to arrange this and give us the bill. Public comment: There is no public comment. Treasurer’s report: A motion to accept the treasurer’s report as presented was made by R Scheurer and supported by A Hengesbach. Motion carried. A motion to put our CD’s that have matured into general fund was made by A Hengesbach and supported by R. Scheurer. Motion carried. Bills in the amount of $14,318.42 to the general fund and $968.59 to the building fund were presented for payment. A motion to pay the bills was made by R Scheurer and supported by A Hengesbach. Motion carried. TWP Business: Travis Alden form Economic Alliance was here to talk about what they are doing in our communities with the money that is given to them. Randy Zenk, Pewamo Village Mayor was here to share news he learned about the American Rescue Plan act. He said payments should start coming out on May 10. Randy also was here to ask about a sensor in the Pewamo Fire Barn that is faulty and wanted to know whose responsibility it is to fix it. The board agreed it was a grey area and has agreed to pay half of the cost of the repair. Building: There is someone interested in buying the Township Building. There was a motion made by R Scheurer and supported by A Hengesbach to have Charles Babcock be the contact person for selling the building. A roll call vote was taken: R Scheurer yes, A Hengesbach yes, J Thelen yes, C Babcock yes, and J Heckman yes. Motion carried.
